Privacy Tea Policies

Janam Tea will never sell your information. Period. We employ data security measures to the best of our ability and value discretion. Especially important for those seeking private events. Even employees won’t know who the event is for until the day of, which is especially helpful for our celebrity clients. Your privacy is as important to us as your happiness.

Packaged Tea Policies

Packaged tea cannot be returned, even if unopened because we cannot guarantee to another consumer that the tea was handled correctly outside of our care. All sales of tea are final.


Packaged tea is shipped with a tracking number with standard delivery, rush orders may incur additional shipping charges. Please email amy@janamtea.com with any special requests.


Packaged tea is quality controlled from garden to delivery, so it is guaranteed to leave our hands in perfect condition. If it does not arrive to you perfectly, we will replace the tea if available or provide credit. Please email amy@janamtea.com with a tracking number and photos.


Please note our teas are limited-edition so when they’re gone, they’re gone forever. We may not be able to stock or replace your favorite tea.


Tea is delicate and should not be refrigerated, frozen, crushed, handled with wet hands or utensils and the container needs to be closed immediately after dispensing leaving as little air in as possible. Once opened, only you can ensure the flavor by careful use. Tea does not age well and should not be kept as a souvenir. It will last just fine for about 6 months to a year, if kept properly.

Afternoon Tea Policies

We will create an Afternoon Tea as a Bespoke Experience for you and will adhere to your written requests for menu items, allergies and other style choices.

Unfortunately, we cannot create an Afternoon Tea Experience for fewer than 10 guests, and at a location of your choice, so long as outside catering is allowed. There is a $1000 minimum for all Afternoon Tea events. There will be clarity on all invoices of what is, and is not included for your particular tea session. We can provide caffeine-free options as well as alcohol upon request.


Experience Policies

We work with a wide variety of clients and for that reason, your privacy is always ensured, whether that is with your personal data, recording of Zoom sessions (we will always ask permission), and what is verbally expressed amongst guests or in mixed company. We are as much interested in the quality of your experience as in the tea itself; you have an airtight guarantee that Janam Tea holds you, your company, your data and anything you may choose to share with us with the highest level of discretion.


Any type of event, for any human, under any circumstance is never questioned nor judged; we will conform to professionalism at all times in our service offerings and interactions regarding all of our experiences.


Janam Tea Experiences require a non-refundable deposit in order to secure a date and time. The deposit, for clarity’s sake, is non-refundable for ANY reason except in the circumstance of a technology failure (for example, you accidentally put through a charge twice and one of them needs to be refunded).


Once a day and time is set for an event and price agreed upon, it is due regardless of changing circumstances on behalf of our clients, unless a 72-hour notice is provided. For example, an experience starts on the day/time agreed for $25,000 for 50 people but only 10 show up to the event, the full balance is still due because we will have expended time and energy to accommodate them. For example, you call 48 hours in advance, which is still before the event, but within that 72-hour window, we will adjust to our best capacity, but will be unable to adjust below 50% of the original invoice. We can usually accommodate +/- 3 persons within the 24 hours ahead of your event without too much trouble. However, in ALL circumstances, we will do the very best we can to work with our clients to deliver the maximum value as we know sometimes circumstances are beyond everyone’s control. We will create an Experience Profile based on our introduction session that will be signed by both parties, any additional requests beyond the scope of the profile will incur additional charges as per the request and will be considered an Experience Profile Addendum.


Please note that due to Covid-19 that there may be a chance that the experience will have to be rescheduled, and because the deposit cannot be refunded, it will be instead used to prepare for an alternate date. If the new event due to Covid 19 has materially changed (number of people, type of food or service), the Experience Profile will have an Addendum attached.


Janam Tea is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen property and will always maintain $1M limited liability insurance when performing services off-site. In a private party situation, if there is alcohol served, it is our responsibility to ensure all guests served are 21+, however the hiring party and location are responsible for behavior of all guests, including those under 21.

India Travel Policies

You must be comfortable with some degree of discomfort when traveling to India. This, in my experience can come in many forms. We are not responsible to alleviate, appease, change plans, or in any other way cater to whatever form of that discomfort may be. Though sympathetic and resourceful, we cannot be liable for challenges you may personally incur.


We are not a tour company nor profess to be one. You are responsible for ensuring transportation to and from India, acquiring the proper visa, immunizations and insurance to make your trip complete. We are bringing you to meet personal friends, stay in homes and provide experiences as our friend. We are not remotely responsible for your logistics nor enjoyment. We are bringing you to experience the Indian Tea Industry, to professionals and places of tea production and relevant industry sites. This is a great option for people who are independent travelers curious about tea, where and how it’s grown. For the adventurer, more of an eco-cation.


If a guest is truly unhappy with our choice of accommodations, food, transportation, experiences to the point where it’s affecting other guests, we will continue the visit without them and our responsibility will be to ensure the person’s safe arrival to the departing city’s airport (at our expense) and to cover the change fee for the flight (up to $150). The change in fare, plans and any other logistics are the sole responsibility of the guest.


The choice to continue without a particular guest and reroute their trip will ultimately be ours for the safety and pleasure of the other guests, though we will obviously do all we can to ensure this would never happen by setting expectations correctly from the beginning. India is not for everyone. All guests are thoroughly interviewed for compatibility prior to commencement of our visit.


Fees paid towards visiting India are not refundable for any reason, as we cannot expect our Indian counterparts with whom we have made arrangements to go without. This is in effect for the deposit as well.

Class Policies

Class spaces can be rescheduled outside of 24 hours, but within 24 hours and there are no refunds for event day no-shows. Rescheduling is always an option!


Teas will be sent with a tracking number, standard mail, however if faster shipping is required, please email amy@janmatea.com to arrange. There may be an additional cost.


Classes for professionals or consumers have the same policies: Our content is ©2018-2021 Janam Tea and all rights are reserved. Rescheduling is possible for missing one class. More than one missed class may mean drop-out of any longer term sessions as it’s too hard to catch up.


Professional classes are only conducted with more than 5 students.


As of 5/2021, classes may be completed online or In-person, depending on proximity.


Graduates of any professional class are confirmed with certificate of completion. If one has not received a certificate, you are not considered to having formally finished the course.


Courses are not transferrable, but consumer classes are (classes lasting less than one day).


General Policies and Contact Information

Generally speaking, tea is not returnable due to the consumable nature of the product and classes/events/experiences do generally have a charge for cancellations in some form.


You may know exactly where any tea comes from at any time, any certificate you might be interested to see is readily available. We stand behind our teas 100% and guarantee you’re getting exactly what is advertised.


We love collaborations, ideas and suggestions so please don’t be shy on sharing your opinion about anything we do. If something is not to your liking, please give us an opportunity to remediate any challenge you might have in adherence with our stated policies.
